February 23rd 2019

Have you heard about the national event / walk called Coldest Night of the Year? CNOY is a family-friendly national walk-a-thon that helps individuals raise funds for charities that serve hungry, homeless and hurting people in your town, and in 136 communities across Canada! This year the date is Saturday February 23rd and will take place between 5 pm and 8 pm. https://cnoy.org/about

This year, Sistering has been asked to participate – this is AMAZING for us as it will raise awareness about the women we serve as well as raise much needed funds to run our programs! Our start/finish will be Bloor Collegiate Institute and the walk is 2km, 5km or 10km. Sisters Kitchen will be providing yummy soup and chili to warm all the walkers’ insides and toes after the walk.

The route is in our neighbourhood and will be on sidewalks and will include walking by Sistering! Everyone is welcome! CNOY is family-friendly. Walkers range in age from toddlers (with parents of course) to active seniors. Our fundraising goal is $35,000. We NEED your support and help by participating and/or recruiting walkers and volunteers! We hope this walk will become an annual event. Yonge Street Mission was the only charity invited by CNOY to participate for many years – since 2011. They started small like us and now raise $160,000+ with this annual walk.

Would you like to form your own team and be the Team Captain? Maybe you are interested in walking with a team already established. Corry is one of Sistering’s Team Captains and would love to have you join her team, Invictus! (see photo above!) Alternatively, if you do not want to walk but want to fundraise you can join Team Sistering. Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $150 or alternatively you can pay the registration fee of $25 to enter. All walkers/ team captains who raise $150+ will receive a very cool toque! You can check out our team status here: https://cnoy.org/location/torontogladstonebloor

Please do not hesitate to ask me questions. Thank you for your consideration and interest. Hope to see you on February 23rd!

Thank you,

Wendy, Pat Craig, Marian, and the CNOY Team
